The Quatuor de la Chapelle Royale was born out of a passion for chamber music by four musicians from several major Parisian ensembles and orchestras, including l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and l’Ensemble Orchestral de Paris. Founded in 2005, it regularly performs a wide variety of repertoire, with a particular focus in premiering new works. They also founded the Académie de la Chapelle Royale de Dreux, of which they continue to be active members and from which they derive their name.
