The
Clerks' Group made its London debut in 1992 and has been responsible for
releasing many works from library shelves or manuscripts into the
performing arena. The group particularly specialises in the Flemish
repertoire, and is noted for their interpretation of the works of Johannes
Ockeghem, undoubtedly the most renowned composer of the late 15th century.
Their recordings have earned them three nominations for Gramophone
magazine's Early Music award and, in 1997, the award itself.
The
group has performed extensively in the UK and in Europe: the last two
years have seen trips to Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium and
Iceland. In the autumn of 1999, the group made its debut tour of the
United States, giving concerts in, amongst other cities, Los Angeles, New
York, Houston, Washington D.C. and Atlanta. A second trip took place in
February 2001. The choir has been featured on the radio both in the UK and
on the continent, and has recently made a programme for Belgian
television.
